Who Joins Texas CURE
Membership is composed of prisoners and their families, corrections professionals, public officials, and "ordinary citizens" concerned about criminal justice in Texas.
Membership Benefits:
When you become a member of Texas CURE, you join a large group of individuals, who share a desire to bring awareness and positive change into the Texas Criminal Justice system. This influence is responsible for effecting many of the changes that give hope and possibility, to incarcerated people. We do this in a number of ways:
- Our Quarterly Newsletter provides information to our members regarding the most current state of things in the system. We provide this forum to share a common pipeline between prisoners and the Texas Criminal Justice System, advising and apprising them of the programs and projects we are seeking to effect. We offer support to families and other interested parties regarding the multitude of policies and procedures effecting their loved ones. We offer advice and protocol in the areas where they can be of great assistance to an incarcerated individual.
- Navigating the Criminal Justice System can be an extremely frustrating and overwhelming process. Weather you are on the outside trying to assist someone on the inside, or as an incarcerated individual. Our volunteer staff work tirelessly in assisting members through proper channels. We direct awareness to the information, regulations and offices within the system that will field their particular requests. It is our intention to help make an incarcerated individuals time as positive as possible.
- Parole assistance is an important support mechanism that we offer. It is of great value to the outcome potential for an incarcerated person. We provide the information that assists an incarcerated person who is seeking a parole opportunity by ; offering advisement on the components, that we know are of greatest necessity in this process. This assistance comes in the form of a written parole packet that will help the potential parolee and his loved ones put together a positive parole plan that reflects the important aspects of concern, to those on the Texas Parole Board who make parole decisions.
- Share the network of other organizations working with Texas CURE. Through referrals, we connect our members to a vast array of services and support for prisoners, parolees, and their families and loved ones.
- Informing the membership and the pubic on the effects of legislation/proposals we are working on. Monitoring the conditions for those who must be incarcerated. Speaking out on behalf of prisoners and their families, providing balance to criminal justice decisions.
- Provide information to media and lawmakers about justice issues.
We know there is power in numbers, if these and other issues concern you or someone you love then you are in the right place, please join us and become a member today!
